This post is elaborating on the post Foam=Frizz. There are so many chemicals in our soaps that we don't even think of when we use them, but we could get just as clean with an earth-friendly soap. We don't think about the fact that those chemicals go down the drain, through the pipes, into the oceans and into the fish just to come right back to us...on our dinner plates. It's bad for the water, the fish and us!

Please make the decision to choose botanical, biodegradable cleansers in your daily routines and support our ecosystems.

Clothing Line

One of the things I love about period films are the scenes where it shows the laundry hung out on the line outside. I don't know why we've stopped doing that and opted for a clothes drying machine. I suppose we're just a people of impatience.

It's not only better for the environment to dry your clothes out on the line instead of using a clothes drying machine, but it's definitely better for your electricity bill. Plus you get that fresh breeze scent right in your clothes!

I think you'd be especially lucky if you lived in the country instead of in the city where I am. But, if you do live in the city, you can always dry your clothes in the bathroom, over the curtain or on the towel rack.

Do you use a clothing line to dry your clothes on outside? I'd love to see a photo!

Foam=Frizz

Sulfates. The part of detergents that causes it to bubble and foam. It's in every dish washing detergent, laundry detergent and SHAMPOO. When you are washing dishes and you pour the soap on the sponge, it foams up. It also never completely washes out. When you wash your hair with shampoos that contain sulfates, no matter how much you rinse, it stays in your hair and in our water. You can get sulfate free shampoos that will still clean your hair without the foaming effects of sulfates.

Sulfates strip your hair. They cause your hair to be frizzy, dull and lifeless. Using shampoos that contain sulfates strip your hair of the natural oils that moisturizes your hair, therefore causing severe damage and split ends. Meaning more money spent on frequent hair trims. Sulfates are bad for the planet, bad for your hair and bad for your pocket book.

When you watch the commercials that advertise hair products. You see this beautiful woman in the shower scrubbing her hair with a very foamy shampoo and moments later she appears with gorgeous, bouncy curls or sleek, smooth straight hair. Smiling and confidently proclaiming the name of the product that produced those locks.

What the commercials don't show you is the hours that the model had to endure as the onset stylist washed, blow dried straightened and curled her hair and then applied numerous different products to smooth down the frizzes and fly-aways. Frizz is what happens when your hair has been stripped down of moisture. Your hair is reaching out to the environment for moisture. Your hair is like a plant. Flowers follow the sun as it moves across the sky for its nutrients. Your hair responds the same way to water. That is why your hair frizzes up when it rains. It is dehydrated to the MAX and is reaching out to the h2o to replenish itself.

Sulfates poison our environment. Would you ever think about pouring your detergents/shampoos on your plants? Sulfates contain Sodium, which is salt. If you're thirsty, you wouldn't drink salt water. Would you ever drink water that you just poured detergent in? Of course not. Please do your part in taking care of our planet and use sulfate free shampoo. I use the Deva line. Their products cleanse and hydrate VERY well without the harmful effects of sulfates.

The planet thanks you and so does your hair!

Clean Up the Oceans with a Pay Cut

I feel this issue is important, not only for the posterity of America, but for the posterity of the entire planet. Clean water is getting harder and harder to find and the oil in the ocean waters is poisoning the plants, animals and people of the whole planet. The oil in the water not only is killing the wildlife, but it is affecting the human race. Not only the lucky people who live near the beach and spend long amounts of time in the water, but the oil is slowly evaporating and the rain fall will seep into the fresh water supplies if we don't do something soon.

The politicians are being payed billions of dollars and I believe that money could be spent in a wiser fashion. We need to take care of this planet or it will cease to be able to healthily take care of us. We, as the future generations, should be preparing and taking notes on the issues that we believe are important. For those of you who plan on being a politician, please look around you. There are so many things that need to be fixed.

I don't know how many of you subscribe to Popular Science magazine, but something in it caught my eye a while back. Oil-eating robots. The following is copied from their website:

When the Deepwater Horizon rig began leaking oil into the Gulf of Mexico in April, the cleanup schemes were underwhelming: fire, dispersants, pantyhose stuffed with human hair. But a new robotic system could corral future spills in hours so that oil never hits the shore.

Aeros (Airborne Robotic Oil Spill Recovery System) is a fleet of airplane-deployed robots that cordon off the oil and use centrifuge-like oil/water separators to collect oil for refining. Each ’bot can purify up to 3,000 gallons of water a minute. Several could clean an 11-million-gallon, Exxon Valdez–size spill in a few days.

Global Response Group, Aeros’s developer, is building its first prototype robot to test on an experimental oil spill next year. The company is also in talks with the Chinese government to establish the first Aeros airbase, which will deploy ’bots to protect that country’s fishing waters from offshore drilling. It will cost $800 million, a small fee compared with the billions of dollars in damage that a spill can cause.

Spills present challenges for any cleanup. 'Booms don’t work well with big waves, says oil expert Greg McCormack of the University of Texas. But the industry is eager for new strategies, he says, and will embrace Aeros if the prototype works. Aeros’s inventor, Myron Sullivan, says it will. 'It needs fine-tuning,' he says, 'but the technology is proven. There will be another disaster. All we can do is prepare for it.'
How It Works
1. ’Bots Away! Planes drop minivan-size water-cleaning robots and inflatable booms near the spill site.
2. Trap the Spill Once inflated, the U-shaped booms surround the oil. Robots use GPS to get behind a boom’s flap, which directs water into the ’bot’s cleaning system.
3. Clean The robot sucks oily water into a cone that spins the liquids, sending denser water to the outside and creating a stream of oil in the center. Low pressure at one end draws oil away while the heavier—and 99 percent clean—water flows out the other side.
4. Collect the Black Gold A bladder collects the oil, which crews pick up later to recycle. One robot can clean up to 3,000 gallons of water per minute, scrubbing the affected area in just a few days.

In my opinion, if we invested in the research it took to make these robots fully operational and set them up in key places in the oceans, we could clean the waters. Not only at the locations that have recently been contaminated, but to continually purify long after oil spills.

Bashing at the CPAC

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) began yesterday in Washington D.C. Last night, Bill O'Reilly commented on some of the criticism spoken at the conference by Republicans. As part of the Posterity of this nation, I am disappointed as well. It's one thing to expose unconstitutional leadership, but to cut down the president on a personal level is immature, unethical, and shameful. The media is going to expose all of our nation's politicians and we need to behave ourselves professionally. The Democrats bashed former President George W. Bush as well and we need to get back to our focus on defending the constitution instead of lowering ourselves to playground bully tactics. If you guys aren't going to play nice, then you can go sit in the corner! Remember, don't argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level and beat you down with experience.

Not only are we taking a stand against the unconstitutional leadership in our politics, but also with our nation's media. If we're going to save this nation from destruction, then stop the tabloid media circus and get back to business. Report the truth, just the facts. Tell ALL the story, not just the part that serves your agenda's purpose. Politicians, find what you DO agree on and get back to work on implementing policies that HELP our nation. Eliminate policies that put us into slavery. WE are the Posterity that our Preamble speaks about and WE are telling you what WE want for our future. Stop fighting and get back to work.

We don't need more division in this country, we need more unity. We are the United States of America and we must re-unite.

Hey, you! Big bad government! Didn't you all take an oath to defend and uphold the Constitution? Listen up, we're sick of the way you all have been "handling" it. Let's get back to the way it's all supposed to be. We HAVE a voice and it WILL be heard. Please stop creating this mess and leaving it for us to fix.
